The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is a central government scheme to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections studying in Class 8.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Student must be studying in Class 8 in a Government or Government-aided school
Must have scored minimum 55% in Class 7 (50% for SC/ST)
Annual family income must not exceed ₹3.5 lakh
📋 Selection Process
Written NMMS exam is conducted by the State Education Department
Exam includes Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Qualifying students receive ₹1000/month till Class 12
📝 How to Apply?
Application is generally done through the school (offline or online as notified)
Forms are distributed by school authorities or available on state education portals
Submit the form with required documents and signature
Collect admit card and appear for the NMMS test

Renewal is automatic every year if student scores minimum 55% in annual exams
